Early Summer Update:

It's been a very wet and chilly spring and early summer.  We've had a few days of sunshine and warm days but close to record rainfall.  The garden isn't looking too bad for early June, unfortunately it's July.  I am not optimistic about what the garden will produce.

Potatoes and onions.

The Tayberries are loaded and still blooming.

The peas are looking good.

Radishes and various lettuces.

Cabbages

The tomatoes have a long way to go.  The volunteer onion looking very good.

The chicken house has been getting the inside painted.  Only one more coat on the one side is left and then I can finish it out and then some chicks.  While we were hoping to get a much earlier start with the chickens this year I have just been too busy to get it done earlier.

  1. Your garden is faaaar better than mine this year. All that I put in so far is what ever came back from last year - oregano, chives and walking onions.

Your chickens are going to be far better off than ours too. They are lucky to be dry, but they keep warm 'cause they have to crowd so closely - lol.

We found a crazy looking flower out on Mineral Point earlier today... ...I have never seen one before, but maybe you know what it is? I posted a pic on my blog - Least Expectations.

  2. Precisely why I am debating not doing a garden. Last year was a hard frost in early October, this year a late start...a lot of work and you never know what you will get out of it. :)

  3. Ryan,
It looks familiar but I can't place it. I would suspect the the flower in the picture is in the later fruiting stage and that the earlier flower would look quite different.

    Shaggy,
One thing for sure, if you don't sow you won't reap.
